Service
Sports Mobile Massage
Built around a training calendar rather than a spa menu. Sessions are scheduled relative to your key workouts and your race date, and the work changes completely depending on which side of that date you are on.
Three different sessions, not one
Pre-event (2–5 days out)
Brisk, stimulating, shallow. Compressions, broad friction, and joint mobility — nothing deep, nothing new, nothing that could leave you sore. The goal is to arrive at the start line feeling like yourself, not like you had a massage.
Post-event (24–72 hours after)
Gentle, flushing, generous with time. Long drainage strokes and light compression to reduce that seized, heavy-legged feeling. Deep work on freshly damaged tissue makes recovery slower, so it is off the table for the first couple of days.
Maintenance (any off week)
The real work. This is where restrictions get addressed properly — deeper pressure, cross-fibre work, assisted stretching. Schedule it after an easy day, never the day before a quality session.
What tends to need attention, by sport
- Runners — calves and soleus, tibialis anterior, glute medius, and the lateral hip; the IT band gets blamed for problems that live above it
- Cyclists — hip flexors and quads locked short from hours in the drops, plus a thoracic spine that has not extended since April
- Climbers — forearm flexors, lats, and the front of the shoulder; finger pulleys are worked around, not on
- Skiers and snowboarders — quads, adductors, and the low back, especially in the first weeks of the season
- Lifters — thoracic mobility, lats, and hip capsule restrictions that show up as a bad-looking squat
Assisted stretching is part of it
A meaningful share of every maintenance session is spent on active and passive range-of-motion work rather than on the table under oil. You will be asked to push back against resistance, to hold a contraction, to breathe out at a specific moment. It is more participatory than any other service here, and clients who want to switch off entirely usually prefer Swedish.
Because of the stretching, shorts and a sports bra or fitted t-shirt are a reasonable option for this service, and plenty of clients choose it. Say so when booking and the session will be planned around clothed work.
On timing, honestly
The single most common mistake is booking deep sports work two days before a goal race, in the belief that it will help. It will not. Anything below the surface needs about a week before it stops being a variable, and race week is a bad time to introduce variables.
If you have a date on the calendar, mention it when you book and the session will be built backwards from it. If your A-race is in nine days, the session will look nothing like the one you would get in the middle of a base block.
Who books this
- Front Range runners in a marathon or trail block
- Cyclists riding real volume through the summer
- Climbers in a projecting cycle who want their forearms back
- Anyone with a goal event on the calendar and a plan to get there
